drammies 2008

The Drammies 2008 awards has been anounced, and you should take some time to send them a email with your votes: What’s with the email anyway, where’s the online form that I can submit? Anyway, I’ve submitted my votes and here are my votes for 2008:

Best Packaging/ Marketing Campaign: Highland Park 40yo, a beautiful bottle! Luckily it’s not about what I could afford to purchase.
Bang for the Buck: Highland Park 18 yo, a very nice bottle from HP
Distiller/Blender/Independent Bottler of the Year: Ardbeg, with the release of Rennaissance this can be the only winner from the list.
Most Innovative New Product: this one is worse since I’ve only tasted the Blasda ( that didn’t really impress me ), so I’m voting for Octomore on this one ( and looking forward to tasting it someday )
Best New Product (whisky): Karuizawa 1971, no doubt about that ! If this bottle is as good as the single cask 1973 that I tasted at the whisky festival in oslo last year, then this bottle deserves a price!
Best New Product (Non-whisky i.e., book, resource, web site, etc): Malt Whisky Yearbook 2009, a very good book that I’ll continue to buy the upcoming years.
Most under-rated-whisky: Scapa 14, again there is no doubt about this one: scapa is a very good dram! ( Amrut is a good second if I could have two votes )
Worst Marketing Campaign: don’t have any preferences here, but I’m going for Macallan Rankin.

What’s your take on this years drammies?
